Planting a Church.

Chenille and I know that we are going to team in a church plant one day, but have no idea who, what, when, where, or how? We need your prayers in the following ways:

  1. Who will we team with in this journey?
  2. What are we to do in the meantime?
  3. When are we to actually begin this process?
  4. Where are we to go?
  5. How do we organize thought and vision for the plant?
  6. Most of all. Pray that we respond to the call of God with obedience. We seek to see that Jesus gets the most glory out of our move. We in no way want to center this process on ourselves. Our home, money, food, clothing, and family are the least of our concerns for planting a church. Our aim is to please the King.

Your team should be the old mowing crew from landscaping.

Hmm... there might be room for one more church in Idaho.

Here's the serious part. In the mean time, focus on your relationship with God and your wife, and spend as much time as possible getting to know lost people. That's probably the most important skill in church planting (perhaps evangelism in general). You might want to read some really good books.

Your thought and vision can be vague at best without knowing the place you are going, the team you are with, and the people you are reaching. You can write down the non-negotiables, but make sure that it is a short list!

Also, consider spending time working on a staff with a church that has recently been planted. Make sure the pastor is someone you look up to and want to learn from.

Just some thoughts based on my experience.
